Platform ZA Launches in South Africa

Platform ZA, a brand-new, digital pay-per-view channel, has launched.

The brainchild of Pieter Jan-Kapp (Kappie) from PJK Management and Christiaan Ballot of technical supplier Blond Productions, the channel has created work for over 200 people, ranging from actors and musicians, to cameramen and technical crew.

Best known for working together as technical director and supplier on a range of popular art and music festivals across South Africa like Innibos, Klein Karoo Nasionale Kunstefees (KKNK) and Aarkloop, Kappie and Ballot took the plunge during the COVID-19 lockdown and established their very own online platform as only they could.

The talented duo not only created Platform ZA, but also the content featured on it, music, cooking and lifestyle programmes, a fishing show and even sitcoms and comedy shows.

Like-minded players within the live events industry have jumped at the opportunity to be part of the project. Together, they have produced over 2,000 minutes of quality content, and it’s very likely that Platform ZA will reach a new audience and continue running even once the world returns to normal. Filming took place at Blond’s warehouse in Midrand as well as shooting at various locations.

“We are absolutely delighted that the content is proudly South African, even though we have received assistance from an Australian financial investor,” commented Ballot. “It is such a privileged to present our showcase to the world, featuring the wonderful talent our country has to offer from factors, artists, musicians and the technical crew. We are very proud of the end-product, which really is world-class.”.

Attracting a wide scope of individuals from within the live events industry, the project was particularly inspirational for Kappie. “Platform ZA will offer diverse content to a diverse audience, and it has been an honour to work with every single person who has contributed in to produce the magic,” he commented.

An annual subscription costs R30.00, of which 25% will be donated to the Tribuo Fund. Performances are then available to watch online by purchasing tickets on a pay per view basis.
