Under the patronage of His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan Mubarak Al Nahyan, Cabinet Minister, Ministry of Tolerance, the American University in the Emirates held its 8th commencement ceremony at the Sheikh Rashid Hall, Dubai World Trade Centre.
The evening included VIP guests like His Excellency Muhammad Bin Bduwah Al Darmaki, the University’s patron, Major General Ahmed Nasser Al-Raisi, Chairman of Board of Trustees, Mr. Khalaf Al Qubaisi, Deputy chairman of the Board of Trustees, and Dr. Muthanna Ghani Abdul Razzaq, President of the University along with the respected faculty, parents, alumni students.
A total of 539 students graduated this year, with both undergraduate and master’s degrees from various academic portfolios like the College of Media and Mass Communication, the College of Design, College of Business Administration, Computer and Information Technology and College of Security and Global Studies.
After the flag hosting, His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance, addressed the gathering. “Our attention to education and its importance in the UAE, is because of our founding father, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and also His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE. Together with the vision and support of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, it truly is the essence of the UAE’s focus on youth and education.
“We are proud of our dedicated leaders like His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, who has built the nation, taken forward our fellow brother and sisters towards excellence and education. The unique rulers that the UAE is blessed with have always assured that education and higher education is at its best to help progress the nation. They have been committed to the young generation who are capable of achieving a bright future for themselves, their families and also the country. We are thankful to live and grow in such a country where the sons and daughters are seen as wealth, as our treasure, that will help the country progress towards achieving its goals.
“The University (AUE) is a great contributor to the development of the beloved United Arab Emirates (UAE).” He also stressed the importance of education by adding: “Learning and teaching is in the hands of the country and its people.” Ahmed Nasser Al-Raisi, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the United Arab Emirates, expressed his happiness. Paying importance to a good vision, he added that consistent effort is needed to change the vision to reality. He stated the importance of investing in good education that ensures well-being in the long run, enhancement of knowledge and paving the way for a prosperous future.
“The American University in the UAE has showcased many of the values and lessons taught to us by our late founding father. They are innovative and think outside the box, introducing many unique courses at the university. His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai is a firm believer of strengthening our country and establishing it as one of the safest, most developed and passionate country in the world. And its focus on education where it all starts.” He added.
The American University in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has named the year as “Zayed Class” in line with the year of Zayed. The university extended its gratitude to His Highness Sheikh Nahyan Mubarak Al Nahyan for his presence at the graduation ceremony and his generous gesture from His Excellency to enjoy and share the joy with the graduates and their families. The ceremony ended with popular folk dancing performances and various dances presented by the students to the audience expressing their happiness and success.
